The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday said it has hired Australian pitch curator Tony Hemming to improve the playing fields.
The appointment of the Australian curator comes following the Pakistan team was criticized for poor performance in consecutive Test matches.
Pakistan will host the International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy from February 19 to March 9 next year.
The cricket board said in a statement that ‘Hemming has been appointed as the new head curator on a two-year contract to prepare the pitch for the next five Test matches in the home season.’
Hemming will oversee the pitch preparation ahead of the two Test matches once morest Bangladesh starting August 21 in Rawalpindi and August 30 in Karachi.

He will also help prepare for the three Test matches once morest England in October.
After high-scoring Tests once morest Australia in 2022 and England in 2021, Pakistan’s Rawalpindi Stadium was rated below average.
Australian captain Pat Cummins says the pitch was not fair enough to compete with, while legendary batsman Steve Smith described it as ‘harmless’.
Hemming has more than four decades of experience and previously served as the ICC’s Head Curator for Academies.
