Piskarev announced fines for foreign agents for interference in elections

The bill on administrative responsibility for the interference of foreign agents in the elections will be submitted to the State Duma in the near future. This was announced by the head of the State Duma commission to investigate the facts of interference of foreign states in the internal affairs of Russia Vasily Piskarev. According to him, on September 12, the initiative will be sent to the government for feedback.

“We have developed a draft law on the introduction of weighty, yet administrative, liability for interference in elections by foreign agents. We will introduce it in the near future. It already has the support of the Ministry of Justice. On Monday I will send it to the government, within two weeks we hope to get a response from there,” Mr. Piskarev said at a meeting of the Central Executive Committee (quoted from TASS).

On September 5, Vasily Piskarev reported that the developed bill provides for an administrative fine for activities carried out by a foreign agent that affect the results of elections or hinder the nomination and election of candidates. According to Mr. Piskarev, the fine will be set at 10,000 to 30,000 rubles. for individuals, up to 500 thousand rubles. for officials and up to 1 million rubles. for legal entities.
