Pio Lopez Obrador resorted in December last year to the protection of justice once morest the agreement of the Specialized Prosecutor for Electoral Crimes (Fisel), “through which he fails to respond to the request for proceedings and the impediment to continue the investigation”, from which he was exonerated last year.
Consequently, the Sixteenth District Court of Amparo in Criminal Matters in Mexico City admitted the appeal for processing and gave the President’s brother a period of five days to specify clearly, specifically and without appreciation whether the objective was to combat the non-exercise of criminal action decreed by Fisel in 2022.
The Fisel concluded that there is no electoral crime for the recordings in which Pío Lorenzo López Obrador received cash from david leon romeroformer head of the National Civil Protection Coordination, revealed in 2020.

However, the judge determined to dismiss Pío López Obrador’s request for amparo as “notoriously inadmissible” with respect to the act claimed, which consisted of delaying the completion of various requested procedures.
In this way, the Fourth Collegiate Court in Criminal Matters of the First Circuit will decide whether the complaint is appropriate.
Due to lack of elements, the Special Prosecutor for Electoral Crimes determined not to exercise criminal action once morest Pío Lorenzo López Obrador and David León Romero for electoral crimes.
