Zoukak Theater (Karantina – Beirut) presents “Pinocchio”, His latest theatrical work tells the story of a boy born to his father. His father committed suicide. His mother is war. He grew up among the ruins of a city that was destroying itself, thinking that it was rebuilding itself. It is the story of the boy Pinocchio, which is told by friends who met him. They believed that their existence was their fault, and that they were that big lie, until they discovered that their mother had been left under the rubble – where they thought their heart was located – a corpse without a beating heart.
The audience leaves wondering, where is the hero who saved the city? Where are the homes that were supposed to keep us in our homes? Where is the sweetness of sweat and the bitterness of thyme that was supposed to give us back our children? Where are the children who were promised reconstruction, revolution, peace and tranquility? The audience leaves the theater, with one voice in its head: Nothing happened here, ma’am. Nothing happened here, sir. Nothing happened in this play, and there was nothing to see. “Pinocchio” at Zoukak Theater on March 29, 30, and 31 and April 5, 6, and 7, 2024 at 8:30 p.m. Offer is for ages 14 years and above.
