The 1is October marks the start of Operation Pink October, dedicated each year to breast cancer, the most common cancer among women. On this occasion, two associations are launching digital training accessible to everyone: “I take charge of my screening! “. Explanations.
Breast cancer, first cancer among women in France
More than one in three female cancers in France is breast cancer. In 2023, the National Cancer Institute estimates that there will be more than 61,000 new cases of breast cancer in France, a cancer which in 2018 was responsible for more than 12,000 deaths. Detected early, breast cancer is associated with a good prognosis and in France 60% of breast cancers are detected at an early stage.
This early detection is partly linked to the national strategy for organized breast cancer screening, which provides for a check-up mammogram every two years in women aged 50 to 74, excluding specific risk factors. For women with particular risk factors, specific personalized monitoring is put in place. Operation Pink October dedicates the entire month of October each year to the cause of breast cancer, to raise awareness among the general public and mobilize all stakeholders around this cause.
Train in screening for five cancers, including breast cancer
For this 2023 edition of the Pink October operation, two associations, Beautiful and good et Teach on Earth launch a digital training module intended for the general public and entitled: “I take charge of my screening! “. Accessible free of charge on mobile or tablet, this training aims to decipher and raise awareness regarding breast cancer screening, but also regarding screening for four other cancers:

For each of these cancers, there are different ways to get screened, but for all of these cancers, screening is of the same interest. Being detected early means detecting cancer at an earlier stage, therefore optimizing your chances of cure and improving your prognosis and quality of life.
Pink October, a month dedicated to breast cancer throughout France
To be more educational, the training module is divided into small information and explanation modules on the objectives and methods of screening for these 5 cancers, among the most frequently diagnosed in women and men. The module lasts in total between 15 and 20 minutes. Lifestyle advice is also given to better prevent cancer. This training module is a invitation to take care of your health. In France, organized breast cancer screening is still far from mobilizing all the women concerned, even though it represents an opportunity to be diagnosed early and benefit from a better prognosis.
Alongside this educational initiative, Pink October will once once more be marked this year by the organization of multiple events throughout France. The association Beautiful and good will notably host 51 onco-aesthetic treatment and advice workshops and classes in its treatment salon and in different hospitals.
