Samsung works to create increasingly assertive solutions for early diagnosis, but information remains one of the main weapons against the disease

In the early 1990s, the Pink October movement was created, a global campaign to raise awareness about breast cancer prevention. This silent disease ended up gaining strength during the pandemic period, in which several women stopped taking preventive exams. According to data from the international scientific journal JCO Global Oncology, there was a 4% increase in the number of patients who identified an advanced-stage tumor and a 6% reduction in early-stage cases. This worrying number reinforces the need to resume the prevention routine of the pre-pandemic scenario.

“Breast cancer is a silent disease and prevention is the best medicine. Samsung collaborates in the fight against this and other diseases with cutting-edge technological solutions in imaging diagnosis, but it is necessary to resume the routine of periodic examinations to identify possible changes in advance and, consequently, have a greater chance of successful treatment”, reinforces Walter Brandstetter, clinical manager of the HME division at Samsung Brazil.

As the type of tumor with the highest incidence among women, breast cancer receives special attention from Samsung developers and researchers. This is how the S-Detect feature was created, which uses artificial intelligence to analyze and correlate breast lesions, generating a complete data report through BI-RADS ATLAS¹ (Breast Imaging Data and Reporting System). BI-RADS reports allow radiologists to communicate results to the referring physician in a clear, consistent, and standardized manner, with a final assessment and specific management recommendations. In this way, it is possible to identify the disease more quickly and accurately, optimizing the necessary therapeutic processes.

Among Samsung’s ultrasound systems available in Brazil, practically all of them have S-Detect, as well as other advanced features to take care of women’s health and prevent various types of cancer: among them the HERA W10, HERA W9 models , RS85 Prestige, V8, V7 and HS40. They stand out for their high image quality, providing healthcare professionals with a wealth of detail and, consequently, allowing for more accurate and faster diagnoses.
