Lufthansa and its pilots have not been able to agree on remuneration. Strikes are imminent.
First came the ballot. The pilots from Lufthansa did this at the end of July clear the way for possible work stoppages. However, the union Cockpit also emphasized at the time: “This positive ballot does not necessarily lead to strike action.” It is much more a signal to Lufthansa to take the needs of the staff seriously.
And this signal has still not arrived – at least from the point of view of the Cockpit Association. After four days of talks, they parted ways last Friday without an agreement, the union wrote on Thursday (August 25). The situation was then analyzed in the responsible committees. Then Lufthansa reported once more.
Strikes “possible immediately”
“This morning Lufthansa sent us a changed offer, which the collective bargaining commission, despite a step in the right direction, rated as insufficient,” said the union. “Currently we are too far apart.”
Therefore, the “legal and organizational preparations for strike measures” have been started, explains the Cockpit Association. Strikes are “possible from now on”.
It’s regarding the salary
The subject of the negotiations is the remuneration. The demands of the pilots are primarily regarding compensating for the loss of real wages. The union particularly wants to achieve improvements in the lower wage brackets.
