In the public test of the KPU Draft Regulation on Campaigns and Campaign Funds for the 2024 Regional Elections, General Elections Commission (KPU) Member Idham Holik stated that volunteers who contribute to the campaign are limited to four categories only.

As stated in the policy planning, Idham said that in the legal drafting, the KPU will regulate that donations from individuals are divided into 4 categories, namely members of the supporting political party, individual individuals, non-political party members and volunteers.

“One, members of the supporting political party, this could perhaps be added, political parties and members of political parties because they are different political parties or members of political parties. Second, individual persons,” said Idham at the KPU Office, Jakarta, Friday (2/8).

“Members of non-supporting political parties, because we know that based on Article 40, Law No. 10/2016, political parties that can do, that can support or register prospective candidate pairs, are those who have obtained seats in the DPR, whether they will use the DPRD seats or votes,” he added.

So, later, those who can nominate candidate pairs for regional head and deputy regional head are political parties that have obtained seats in the DPRD.

“The final category is volunteers. In the future, volunteers will be required to report campaign funds. If we develop the involvement of the campaign team, I will see more volunteers. That’s it,” he concluded. (P-2)
