In addition to preparing spiritually, pilgrims who want to travel to the Holy Land to perform Umrah and Hajj are advised to prepare physically.

Head of the Soekarno-Hatta Class 1 Port Health Office, Naning Nugrahini, emphasized the importance of preparing your physical condition before leaving for Saudi Arabia to perform the Umrah or Hajj.

“They will meet people who come from various countries in the world who may also have risk factors for disease, crowded together, in high density, different and sometimes extreme climates, fatigue, which causes the risk of health problems or serious illness. due to infectious and non-communicable diseases,” he said as reported by Antara, Wednesday (8/5).

Therefore, he said, it is important to prepare physically by keeping the body fit and healthy and undergoing recommended vaccinations.

He said that members of the Hajj and Umrah pilgrims who are elderly and have comorbidities are a vulnerable group and are at high risk of experiencing health problems, so they need to receive more attention.

Naning appealed to pilgrims who want to perform the Umrah or Hajj pilgrimage to be disciplined in adopting a healthy lifestyle to minimize the risk of health problems.

Umrah and Hajj pilgrims who have comorbidities are advised to take regular medication as recommended by the doctor, ensure that nutritional needs are met, drink enough water, get enough rest, and adopt clean and healthy living habits.

Naning said that Umrah and Hajj pilgrims must also ensure that they have received the necessary vaccinations, including meningitis and influenza vaccinations, before leaving for the Holy Land.

“We are at risk of getting sick when we leave Indonesia. Maybe if the young people have a cough and cold it won’t be a problem, but for the older ones it can last for a long time, so please be careful,” he said. (Z-6)
