Pilar Coastal Defense registers 93% progress for definitive solution to floods

Asunción, IP Agency.- The works of the coastal wall in the city of Pilar register a 93% progress in what will be the first stage of the definitive solution to the floods caused by the rising Paraguay River in the capital of Ñeembucú.

The President of the Republic, Mario Abdo Benítez, highlighted the progress and the new view of the departmental capital in a message on your Twitter account.

The works correspond to a 15 km long retaining wall, two pumping stations and diversion channels for the city’s main streams, a slope for a beach on the Paraguay River and drainage works.

The project also contemplates, for its next stages, the installation of a sewage system and treatment plant for Pilar, and the construction of a Costanera Avenue with Linear Park on the site of the coastal wall.

The Coastal Defense will guarantee the security of some 10,181 homes, covering 4,154 hectares.
