Pierre Poilievre’s makeover continues to be talked regarding.
This morning, in a press briefing, he was directly asked the question: you no longer wear glasses, you have a new haircut and show more joie de vivre, what is going on?
His answer was ready: “It’s summer, my wife thinks I look better without glasses, so I have to make her happy first.”
“But whether I wear glasses or not, I have the best vision for the country!”
Well sent. Clearly, the line was written in advance.
Known for his abrasive and cutting style, for the past few weeks he has softened his image and tone.

Less pit bull, more golden retriever. He himself said so recently in an interview with local British Columbia media.
“I’m friendly, affable, able to get along with anyone,” he explained, comparing himself to the blond-haired animal. But I’m ready to fight if anyone is looking for a mess.”
Inspired by Trudeau?
There’s no hazard.
Poilievre and his entourage see the polls like everyone else. He’s not enjoying any honeymoon.
His performance in the last by-elections fell short of expectations and is even cause for concern.
Poilievre is looking for himself. He adopted a more relaxed, cooler, less uptight style.

He now mostly drops the glasses. No more white shirts and thick brilliantine.
He’s sort of following in the footsteps of his predecessor Erin O’Toole, who took up running and posed in a tight black t-shirt to show off his biceps on his 2021 campaign platform.
We must note the irony of these Conservative leaders who try to compete with Justin Trudeau on his own ground, that of appearance.
They made fun of his hair and his career as a theater teacher.
Andrew Scheer, Erin O’Toole and now Pierre Poilievre have all been inspired by it in their own way.
