Pierre Guthrie, who entered his home race, ran in the pit lane at a speed that greatly exceeded the limit during the third free practice session of the F1 French Grand Prix. AlphaTauri was fined 1,000 euros (regarding 140,371 yen).
The Paul Ricard circuit’s pit lane speed limit is limited to 60km / h, which is lower than normal, but Guthrie ran at speeds exceeding this by 17.8km / h during the final practice.
The F1 French Grand Prix steward admitted that he had violated Article 34.7 of the F1 Sporting Regulations, which stipulates speed limits in pit lanes, and ruled that the team would be fined € 1,000.
The pit lane speed fine is a system that imposes a fine of 100 euros for every 1 km / h above the speed limit. However, a flat rate of 1000 euros will be levied for large excesses of 10 km / h or more.
If you intentionally break the speed limit for the purpose of gaining some advantage, you may be subject to additional penalties that go beyond fines.
