Pierre Gervais: A Legendary Retirement and the Influence on Habs Players

2023-12-16 17:36:10

Pierre Gervais officially retired following the Canadiens’ 2021-22 season. The team’s former equipment manager left his mark on the minds of several Habs players, but his influence would go even further.

At least that’s what we can see when we learn that Sidney Crosby offered him a good bottle of wine during Gervais’ last game once morest the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Gervais revealed this little anecdote on Mario Langlois’ show on 98.5 Sports.

And why did Sidney Crosby do such a thing? Out of pure kindness? No!

The legendary author of Golden Goal of 2010 rubbed shoulders with Pierre Gervais at the Vancouver Olympic Games in 2010, as well as those in Sochi in 2014. Together, the two men won the gold medal each time.

Crosby especially has Gervais to thank for the special attention the equipment manager gave his skates. Number 87 wants his skates sharpened between each period. So when his skates were sharp by scoring the winning goal once morest Ryan Miller in overtime of the final in 2010, he had Gervais to thank.

Sidney Crosby may have a career worthy of a hockey legend, but he still has one fewer gold medal than the famous Pierre Gervais, who has three thanks to his victory at the Salt Lake City Olympics in 2002 .

But hey, we agree that a bottle of wine is a little smaller than the mountain bike he received from the Canadians.

It nevertheless remains a great attention from Sidney Crosby, from one legend to another.

A lot of

– Tiger’s son is a machine.

– Six years already!

– It’s progressing quickly.

– A true sports fan.
