Pierrakakis from Patras: We will do everything necessary to make Greece a regional center of knowledge, research and innovation – 2024-07-23 07:20:56

“The Rectors’ Summit was an excellent opportunity to further deepen the ongoing dialogue between the Ministry of Education and public universities on higher education issues,” said the Minister of Education, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, in a post on social media, on the occasion of the completion of the proceedings of the 106th Synod, organized by the University of Patras.

As he added, “through the stable and sincere cooperation we have built with the Rector’s Authorities, we will do everything necessary to make Greece a regional center of knowledge, research and innovation, with strong and extroverted public Universities”.

In the meantime, as part of his visit to Patras, Kyriakos Pierrakakis went to the Regional Directorate of Primary and Secondary Education of Western Greece, where he met with the regional director, K. Giannopoulos, the deputy regional director N. Delegos and other officials.

During the meeting, there was a discussion about the upgrading of school daily life.

In fact, as the Minister of Education stated, “we have very big changes that we are launching for our schools from September” and he added: “We have already talked about the digital tutorial, about the 10,000 appointments that will come and about changes in specific courses that they will start from the next school year.”

Also, the Minister of Education met with the regional governor of Western Greece, Nektarios Farmakis, where they discussed the cooperation between the ministry and the region, with the aim of continuously improving school life and connecting the HEIs with the local communities.

Also, as Kyriakos Pierrakakis mentioned in his post on social media, “in the context of the 106th Synod of Rectors in Patras we had the opportunity to visit bodies and organizations that produce important work in education, research and innovation”.

At the ITU “Diofantos”, as he wrote, “we had a very productive discussion with the president, Dimitris Serpanos, and with executives of the Institute about the next digital actions of the Ministry of Education, but also about the course of implementation of the multiple book”.

“At Patras Science Rark,” he continued, “we toured the park’s facilities with the president and CEO, Vassilis Loukopoulos, which hosts over 40 startup companies and 8 entrepreneurship hubs in areas such as nanotechnology, smart cities and renewables Energy sources”.
