Pierina Paganelli Murder, Towards the Interrogation of Daughter-in-law Manuela Bianchi –

Rita Cavallaro

Back in the investigative spotlight for that extramarital affair with the murder suspect. Manuela Bianchi, the daughter-in-law of 78-year-old Pierina Paganelli, the elderly woman killed with 29 stab wounds in the condominium on Via del Ciclamino, in Rimini, last October, will be questioned on Tuesday 16 July as a person informed of the facts. Manuela, who had raised the alarm following finding Pierina’s body lying on the floor in the garage in a pool of blood, was the first to end up under the investigative spotlight, so much so that investigators had also carried out searches at the woman’s father’s house, but without success, and investigated her brother Loris. Despite the total lack of evidence, attention remained on Manuela’s family, in relation to the relationship with a married couple who live in Pierina’s building. Louis Dassilva, a 43-year-old Senegalese, and his wife Valeria had a close relationship with Pierina’s daughter-in-law and it turned out that Manuela had been having an affair with Louis. Hence the suspicions that the crime might be linked to that story: perhaps Pierina had learned of the infidelity of her daughter-in-law, married to her son Giuliano, who was in hospital at the time following a strange accident that had occurred five months before the old woman’s murder. Giuliano had been found dying on the side of the road while he was cycling to work in Coriano. The trail of a clandestine relationship, over the weeks, has gained momentum to the point that the magistrates of Rimini have entered the Senegalese man in the register of suspects, for voluntary homicide. And now Manuela will be heard once more, to clarify circumstances and perhaps provide useful details to the investigation regarding the relationships between the protagonists of the story.

Breakthrough in Pierina's Murder in Rimini: DNA Test, There's a Suspect

“She is available as always to the investigating authorities and will answer all questions as a witness. She is calm and very serene because she has nothing to hide. Also because what interests her is knowing the truth regarding Pierina”, said in an interview with Fanpage the criminalist Davide Barzan, who is assisting Bianchi together with the lawyer Nunzia Barzan. Manuela, therefore, is ready to provide summary testimonial information at the scheduled meeting with the head of the Rimini Flying Squad Marco Masia and with the prosecutor Daniele Paci. Among the points to be clarified are the details of the discovery of her mother-in-law’s body and above all the nature of her relationship with Louis. In the meantime, the work of the expert Emiliano Giardina continues, who is analyzing the DNA evidence found at the crime scene, including Pierina’s clothes, underwear and bag. The DNA traces found on the body will be compared with the genetic profile of the only suspect. The objective is to trace the name of the murderer without a doubt. The results of the tests, carried out in the forensic genetics laboratory of the University of Tor Vergata in Rome, should arrive no earlier than August.
