Where is it located inside the museum A large skeleton weighing 7 tons hanging along the ceiling of the museum of the largest marine creature whale, was discovered in 1936 on the shores of Rashid and was buried with quicklime for a long time until the skeleton was extracted, and it is the oldest creatures in the museum for nearly 100 years.

As well as a section for a group of sharks, including the dangerous type and the peaceful one that does not attack humans, and is present in the waters of the Red Sea, in addition to a group of “jaws” for a group of fish and sharks.

And a different group of marine algae that are used as food for some fish, in addition to the medical and economic importance of extracting some types of antibiotics from them and extracting some natural dyes as well, and they are preserved inside a “fulmarin” solution, as well as a group of corals and fish, which are preserved in the same way .

There is also a group of Nile crocodiles found in Lake Nasser, which is one of the most dangerous types of crocodiles, and has great economic importance, in the use of leather, and it must be dealt with with great care because of its danger.

And another section contains a group of marine devices that were used in the past, such as the old microscope, marine compass, anemometer, a section for migratory waterfowl of all kinds, and a section for the fossils that were discovered with fish left back thousands of years old.

Dr. Hamdi Omar, a researcher at the National Institute of Oceanography in Alexandria, says that the museum is located inside the Qaitbay Citadel and was established in 1918, and includes many marine organisms, and its development over the past years has been by placing some rare living creatures..
