They lie aground, on the beach or wedged between rocks and are exposed to the rigors of the weather and the surf: rusting shipwrecks. But we are moved by the sight of it. Because with every accident there is also a story connected, a drama and the fate of human lives.
The once proud ships have now become lost places, magnets for photographers and sometimes tourist attractions that are visited with excursion boats like in Greece.
These abandoned remains are fascinating because each one captures the imagination. At the same time, wrecks, which have often been looted, are also symbols of transience. From some rusty remains we still know the names of the ships and their adventurous stories regarding how the accident happened.
