A landslide occurred as a result of a fracture in a drainage pipe in the Derbala area, east of Alexandria, today, Tuesday, which caused the fall of a bus carrying 24 people inside, without injuries or damages.
The Al-Montazah neighborhood operations room received the first report stating that a sewage pipe had been broken and that a landslide had caused the fall of a bus carrying 24 people inside it, on Bin Salama Street, in the Derbala entrance area.
On examination, it was found that sewage line No. 5 had been broken and caused a collapse in the asphalt, at a depth of regarding 3 x 4 meters, and a bus carrying 24 passengers fell into the pit, which was pulled out by the neighborhood bulldozer.
The break, which occurred in conjunction with school bus departure times, also caused a slight traffic congestion due to heading to schools, while the Traffic Department opened a number of alternative streets to the road.
For his part, Muhammad Sahloul, Head of Al-Montazah District First, said that the site was handed over to the sewage contractor today to repair the fracture, and to notify the Roads and Transportation Directorate to return the thing to its original condition.
