In early 2018, stemming from the fact that every household has scraps such as cardboard, plastic bottles, etc., but following using it, they often throw it away, both wasteful and polluting the environment, the Commune Women’s Union said. Duy Nhat has deployed the female model “Save from scrap collection” raises funds to help poor members, women and children, and at the same time contribute to clean up the environment.
Initially, from 10 members of the Association’s Executive Committee participated, up to now, the model has been replicated in 100% of branches with the participation of a large number of women members in Duy Nhat commune.

“On weekends, the sisters in the branch divide into groups to collect scrap from households in the village, then accumulate and sell scrap once a month. In the past four years, the model of “Savings from scrap collection” of Duy Nhat Commune Women’s Union has earned 35.2 million VND from selling scrap. From this money, Duy Nhat Women’s Union has deducted funds to repair houses for poor women in difficult circumstances; giving seed and gifts to poor members and carrying out many meaningful social security activities.
Not only creating a fund to support poor women, the model also contributes to raising the awareness of environmental sanitation among the people in the commune.
The money collected from the model of collecting and selling scrap will be stored in savings boxes organized by Duy Nhat Commune Women’s Union.
