Pia Zerkhold & Jakob Dusek win World Championship silver in the mixed competition

LR Danninger: “Outstanding duo shows that you can make it to the top of the world from Lower Austria”

St.Pölten (OTS) One day following his world championship title, Jakob Dusek secures the next world championship medal at the snowboard world championships in Bakuriani, Georgia. Together with compatriot Pia Zerkhold, the two Lower Austrians conquered silver today in the mixed snowboard cross competition. The duo only had to admit defeat to the team from Great Britain. Pia Zerkhold and Jakob Dusek write Austrian sports history with the vice world championship title – it is the first place on the podium for Austria in the mixed competition.

“Congratulations to our outstanding duo! With today’s medal win, Pia Zerkhold and Jakob Dusek not only proved their unbelievable ability and fighting spirit, but also showed that from Lower Austria you can aim high and make it to the top of the world. So that our snowboard crossers can become immensely important role models for our youngest. The whole of Lower Austria is proud,” congratulates Sports Provincial Councilor Jochen Danninger.

The silver medal from Pia Zerkhold and Jakob Dusek is the eleventh medal for red-white-red at this world championship, two of which are gold. Austria can already look back on the third most successful World Cup. On Sunday, at the end of the Snowboard & Freestyle World Championships, the Big Air competition with Austrian participation is on the program.
