PIA flight operations stopped, 50 flights cancelled

The financial crisis of PIA intensified as a result of which the operations of the national airline were completely stopped and 50 flights could not take off. Fuel supply from Pakistan State Oil (PSO) has been curtailed due to which several flights of the national airline have been cancelled.

Several flights from Karachi to the airports of different cities have been cancelled. 3 Karachi Islamabad flights PK 300, 308 and 340, 2 Islamabad Karachi flights PK 301 and 369 have been cancelled.

2 flights PK 303 and 307 from Lahore to Karachi, 3 flights 302, 304 and 306 from Karachi to Lahore while 6 bilateral flights from Karachi to Gwadar, Bahawalpur, Faisalabad have been cancelled. Two-way flights from Sialkot to Muscat have also been cancelled.

On Saturday night, 4 PIA flights departed abroad, including flights to China, Kuala Lumpur, Canada and Istanbul. Only PIA flights that have gone abroad will be able to return.

PIA had paid Rs 22 crore in advance to the PSO for operating the essential flights. These payments were made in the context of limited operations under Plan B for flights on profitable Saturday and Sunday routes.

According to the sources, the flight operation of the national airline is severely affected due to which the passengers are facing problems.
