First, online retail is stagnating at high levels after growth during the pandemic. “Physical shops are experiencing a revival,” says Walter Wölfler from CBRE. Grocery, cosmetics, jewelery and luxury goods in particular are increasingly being bought in stationary stores again.

Secondly, the shopping experience in shopping centers is becoming more important again. Third, both discounters and luxury brands would expand in Austria. And fourthly, wellness and electromobility are new strong categories – as are short distances and the energetic optimization of existing retail properties.
