Physical and psychological abuse by a coach: the Basketball Quebec organization reacts

“Basketball Québec unreservedly condemns the behavior reported in the media regarding Danny Vincent during his time as a coach in high school and college institutions. “The Federation continues its training and awareness work and remains a leader in our collective responsibility with regard to these behaviors. The organization had no choice but to explain itself on Saturday morning because of the severity of the allegations made once morest the coach.

Four sources told our Bureau of Investigation that Basketball Quebec would have been informed of certain actions of Danny Vincent, without sanctioning him.

RSEQ reaction

The Quebec sports federation responsible for the development of sport within Quebec’s educational institutions was also disturbed by the report.

“The RSEQ (Réseau du sport sportif du Québec) is very concerned regarding the situation brought to light in the report on the program “JE” on Friday, November 18, with regard to the allegations of physical abuse, psychological harassment, of verbal abuse and sexual assault perpetrated by a women’s basketball coach,” the organization said in a statement.

Like Basketball Quebec, the RSEQ argued that it opposes “all forms of physical, psychological, verbal and sexual aggression”.

“To this end, the RSEQ has implemented an integrity policy which aims to protect all participants, by offering them a respectful and safe environment in which to evolve with confidence” , can we read in the statement of the RSEQ.

Basketball Quebec has invited any victim of abuse, harassment or violence to report via the “I file a complaint” page available on its website.
