The application platform for the “Photovoltaics on the Roof” program opened today, May 2.
The possibility for thousands of households and farmers to produce the electricity they need and save money is made possible by the “Photovoltaics on the Roof” program (Government Gazette 2903/B/02-05-2023) with a total budget of 238 million euros.
Beneficiaries of the program are households and farmers who will be able to install their own small photovoltaic, combined with a storage system (battery).
The photovoltaic system subsidy starts at 45% and reaches 75% for households. The corresponding percentages for farmers are 40% – 60%, while the total subsidy of the solar battery system can reach up to 16,000 euros for households and 10,000 euros for farmers.
At the same time, a special bonus of 10% is provided for people with disabilities, spouses and dependents of people with disabilities, single-parent, three-child and large-child families.
The submission of applications as well as their approval are done immediately, quickly and automatically, without hassle and complicated paperwork, through the DEDDIE electronic platform and the use of TAXISNET codes.
The application system will remain open until the available resources are exhausted, with a deadline of the end of June 2024.
Each natural person can submit a single application, for a single residence, primary or secondary, which has an active domestic electricity supply. Farmers can submit more than one application, depending on the number of agricultural electricity providers they have, as well as one application for their residence.
The total budget of the program is 238 million euros, it comes from resources of the Recovery and Resilience Fund and is distributed as follows:
Special care is taken for vulnerable households and 45 million euros are allocated exclusively for them (Category A)
Exclusively for citizens with individual income
Exclusively for citizens with individual income > €20,000 or family income > €40,000: €63 million (Category C)
Exclusively for professional farmers and special status farmers: EUR 30 million (Category D)
A basic condition for submitting an application is that the applicant has already concluded a Connection Agreement with DEDDIE but that the photovoltaic station has not been connected.
This station can be placed on the roof or roof of a building (which also includes canopies, terraces, facades, shades and pergolas), in auxiliary areas of the building or agricultural land (e.g. warehouses and parking areas), or in terrain.
The aim of the program is to fully cover the cost of the battery and the development and installation costs of the photovoltaic system. For the first two categories, the battery subsidy is 100%, while for the third and fourth categories it is 90%.
Households will be obliged to install a photovoltaic station with a battery, while farmers are given the option of installing a photovoltaic station with or without a battery.
The maximum installed power of the photovoltaic station to be subsidized is set at 10.8kW. Accordingly, regarding the battery, the maximum subsidy is set at 10.8kWh.
The Minister of Environment and Energy, Kostas Skrekas, said: “Staying true to our energy policy, we continue to create innovative programs that contribute to the steady reduction of citizens’ electricity bills, but also to limiting our environmental footprint.
With the ‘Photovoltaics on the Roof’ program, we are taking a decisive step towards energy democracy, as thousands of households and farmers will gain energy independence, producing and storing their own sustainable energy. It is our firm decision that the path to the green transition be done with Justice for all”.
