In the second quarter of next year, Germany’s largest photovoltaic car park roof is to be put into operation. Then there will be over 35,000 solar modules, supported by 838 posts and spread over an area of nine hectares as a roof for a total of up to 6000 vehicles. The first construction phase was handed over today in the presence of Saxony’s Minister of State for Regional Development, Thomas Schmidt. After completion, the plant will be able to generate a peak output of more than 16 megawatts.
“The commissioning of the first construction phase of Germany’s future largest photovoltaic car park roof also shows how existing areas can be used by commercial companies for the installation of renewable energies without further intervention in the surrounding flora and fauna,” says Jörg Mosolf, CEO of Mosolf group, satisfied. For the first section, 1,600 tons of steel construction elements were installed, around 86 kilometers of DC cables were laid and five kilometers of cable routes were set up.
The Rackwitz site is strategically very well located with a view of the nearby Hyundai plant in Nošovice, Czech Republic. “We look forward to being able to use the logistics terminal for our Hyundai bestsellers Tucson and i30 together with our partners from the Mosolf Group and Hyundai Glovis,” says Jürgen Keller, Managing Director of Hyundai Motor Deutschland GmbH, classifying the strategic importance of the project.
