Electricity: Photovoltaic installations beat all records
While these facilities had already experienced record figures in 2021 in terms of power, these should be exceeded by 50% this year. Bern is delighted.
The solar energy sector is experiencing an unprecedented boom. Last year, the new photovoltaic installations, which represented a power of 700 MW, already recorded a record. A record that should be largely broken this year. Indeed, this development might be exceeded by 40 to 50%, announced the Federal Office of Energy (SFOE) Thursday in a press release.
From January to the end of October 2022, some 24,000 photovoltaic installations with a total power of around 540 MW have already been announced. This already represents a 50% increase compared to the same period of 2021. In September alone, 2,650 announcements were recorded.
And this progression is by far not over. The Confederation will put 600 million francs to encourage the development of these facilities in 2023. “Sufficient resources will also be reserved for the years to come so that there is no waiting list”, specifies the OFEN .
Rush on small and large installations
Because it is the rush on small and large installations. Some 29,000 installations with a total power of more than 400 MW already benefit from financial support via a single payment. The payments amount to a total of 150 million francs. The SFOE specifies that all operators of installations who have submitted a complete application by October 31, 2023 will have their applications honored.
Ditto for the operators of large installations. Some 800 installations with a total power of 230 MW have already received compensation this year.
New compensation from January
It should be noted that the revised energy law, which will come into force on January 1, introduces a high one-off fee for photovoltaic installations without own consumption. It might reach 60% of the investment costs of the reference installations. For installations of more than 150 kW, the amount of the compensation will be auctioned. From 2023, wind and biogas installations will also be eligible for an investment contribution.
