A major operation took place in Quebec City on Monday morning when police officers from the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) intervened following an armed attack.
The police went to an apartment building in the Charlesbourg borough around 8:50 a.m., according to a press release from the SPVQ.
The police were contacted by a victim who said he had been assaulted by at least three suspects using an object that may resemble a firearm.
Several patrol units therefore converged on the area. The victim was located outside the building. His injuries are considered minor.
The SPVQ said it was still looking for the suspects following securing the building. The police did not find any other victims.
Several units have been called upon, including the canine unit, the forensic identification unit, the serious crimes unit as well as the MALSAIN project which will be responsible in particular for investigating the circumstances of the event.
The MALSAIN project is an initiative of the SPVQ in place since 2019, in order to counter an increase in violence linked to drug trafficking by organized crime.
