The law enforcement agency also announced that they had linked ‘various theories’ to 20-year-old gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks, who was fatally shot by a Secret Service sniper. .

One protester was killed and two others injured as a result of eight shots fired by Matthew Crooks before he died.

Although the investigation is ongoing, the bureau has said it has found no motive or evidence that Crooks had other accomplices.

Kevin Rojek, head of the FBI’s field office in Pittsburgh, said at a press briefing that investigators believe Crooks was “involved in the detailed planning of the attack,” according to CBS News.

He added that Crooks had ‘paid close attention’ to the rally in Butler after it was announced and ‘saw it as a target of opportunity’.

An online account linked to the attacker was used to search for Trump events in Pennsylvania last September.

In April of this year and the day before the shooting, Matthew Crooks searched for Trump as well as President Joe Biden’s campaign events.

Kevin Rojek said that after the announcement of the rally in Butler, Matthew Crooks searched for information about the location, such as the term ‘Butler Farm Show Podium’.

In June, Crooks searched for items related to both Biden and Trump, such as the dates of the Democratic and Republican conventions.

Accounts associated with Crocs searched for terms related to making explosive devices in early 2019.

The gunman searched for terms like ‘detonating cord’, ‘how to make a compost bomb’ and ‘how remote detonators work’, Rojek said.

Rojek said some of the accounts associated with Crooks were used to post anti-Semitic comments and that investigators are trying to determine if he made the posts himself.

The head of the field office added that Matthew Crooks spent six minutes on the roof from which he targeted Trump before opening fire.

He said the gunman fired eight shots while the law enforcement agencies fired two shots, one by a sniper and the other by a local officer.

There is no evidence that the local officer targeted Crooks, and there is no evidence that there was a second gunman targeting Trump.

The FBI says it has conducted a ‘conclusive’ interview with Trump about the shooting and that Matthew Crooks’ parents have been ‘very cooperative’.

The law enforcement agency has also released new photos of the evidence collected so far.
