Passionate regarding cars, Luc Poirier has built up an impressive collection with the aim of getting his hands on a limited edition Ferrari.
About two and a half years ago, the businessman tried to obtain the 488 Pista Spider model, but they refused to sell it to him, even though he was the largest buyer of Ferraris in the country. .
“I was told: ‘You buy them, but you don’t collect them,'” explained Mr. Poirier, in an interview with the QMI Agency. That’s how he got it into his head to have a collection of cars. The latter is now worth just under $50 million today.
Having a soft spot for luxury cars, the businessman said he “likes to have new things” and “change cars”. Hence the fact that he had not started his collection earlier.
Luc Poirier, who owns a large number of Ferraris, explains that he likes this brand for several reasons.
“Since my early childhood, these are the cars that I prefer. It’s like works of art,” he said, referring to both the history of these vehicles in the motor racing circuit and their value. “These are the cars that keep their value the most,” he said.
rare cars
Luc Poirier owns several limited edition cars, including the Ferrari Aperta and the Lamborghini Aventador, but the rarest is obviously a Formula 1 car. This was rebuilt with parts from a single-seater that raced in 2004, the year Michael Schumacher won his seventh championship.
“These are parts that were left over from the cars on the circuit, but the car as such did not race,” said Mr. Poirier, calling it rather “demo car“. Worth $2.5 million, this car is rare since there are only three or four, said the collector.
Nevertheless, the Ferrari Aperta remains Luc Poirier’s favourite, because it is a “supercar» comfortable to drive. “I only take it out in time for the Grand Prix,” he said.
Part of his collection is in the spotlight at the Montreal Auto Show, which takes place at the Palais des Congrès until Sunday.
“I’ve always loved sharing my passion with the world, especially with children,” said the man who agreed to lend his cars to be exhibited.
