Photos for e-cards can now also be stored with the municipality

The Greens submitted a corresponding initiative proposal to the National Council on Wednesday. People who do not have Austrian citizenship are particularly affected by the problem of expired e-cards, as their photo is not stored by any authority, explained the Green care spokeswoman Bedrana Ribo in a broadcast. The registration offices of the immigration police were few and far between and could only be reached with great organizational effort, such as 24-hour support staff.

E-cards without a photo have been blocked since January 15th. Around 84,000 insured people are affected. You can continue to receive medical services, but you must go to a photo registrar within 150 days of the doctor’s visit. After the transition period, an electronic e-card replacement receipt is required for doctor’s visits, which must be applied for from the responsible health insurance company. E-prescriptions cannot be redeemed with a blocked e-card.
