The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) went to the interchange connecting Highway 20 West to Highway 73 South, around 11 p.m., because of a violent face-to-face.
“A drunk driver drove into the opposite direction and hit another motorist. His own vehicle then caught fire, ”explains Stéphane Tremblay, spokesperson for the SQ.
The 33-year-old driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries, as did the 18-year-old who was driving the second vehicle.
They were both taken to hospital, but the nature of their injuries is not known.
A third car was also involved in the collision, but it only suffered material damage.
The drunk driver from Quebec was arrested for driving while impaired by alcohol.
Blood tests were taken while he was in hospital, but he was later released on a promise to appear.
The ramp connecting the two highways was closed for just over two hours to allow for scene cleanup.
