[PHOTOS] Attempted murder in Beauport, victim’s spouse arrested

A 51-year-old man known to the police community was arrested after stabbing his spouse in Quebec, on the night of Thursday to Friday, while an 8-year-old girl was in the accommodation.

The police were called to intervene around 11 p.m., in an apartment building on rue Sainte-Cécile, near Fargy Park in the Beauport sector. It was the hubbub caused by the altercation that prompted a neighbor to contact the authorities.

Neighbors in shock

Far from suspecting that the couple was living in a situation of domestic violence, neighbors have difficulty explaining how this event could have occurred.

According to the owner of the building, the suspect moved in with the woman about two months ago, when she had lived in the apartment for almost a year.

“When I saw the lights and the security perimeter in the middle of the night, I couldn’t believe it. It’s right next to us!”, underlines a neighbor visibly shaken by the events.

“It’s not a problem area here, it’s usually quiet. We will never know, but perhaps a life was saved thanks to the 9-1-1 call,” said Mr. Langlois.
