The Phoenix Suns were pretty damn active on Sunday. As tipped since he was released by Orlando, Was Was signed up for one season on a guaranteed contract, for an amount that has not yet been disclosed. In the process, the Suns made room and stocked their trunk with future picks in a deal to send Cameron Payne in San Antonio once morest a future 2nd round of Draft, from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. In a related deal with the Magic, Phoenix gets three future 2nd round draft picks in exchange for a potential 1st round swap in 2026.

At 23, Bol Bol is coming off the first real reliable season of his career, injury-free and with 33 starts in 70 appearances. The former Denver Nuggets player had 9.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game. He brings to the rotation of the Suns a profile which they did not have until then behind the quartet Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Bradley Beal and Deandre Ayton.

The loss of Cameron Payne is not insignificant, however. The one who had filled in for Chris Paul perfectly for a good part of the 2021 campaign until the final lost once morest Milwaukee was a reliable back-up for Phoenix. He will bring his experience and his playmaking to Spurs, in a young group articulated around Victor Wembanyama. Without him, the Suns find themselves a little more limited in their backcourt.

It looks like Bradley Beal, who arrived from Washington a few weeks ago, is set to start as point guard, with Jordan Goodwin as the main backup, with Devin Booker starting at 2 with the ability to slip into 1 if needed.

Phoenix, who will be coached by Frank Vogel next season, now has 11 players on minimum wage deals behind the aforementioned foursome. They will currently pay a luxury tax of 26 million dollars
