Phoenix falls to a Grizzlies plagued by substitutes; Spurs squeeze Lakers

First modification:

Los Angeles (AFP) – The Phoenix Suns, the best team in the NBA regular season, fell 122-114 to the barely starting Memphis Grizzlies on Friday while the Los Angeles Clippers broke their all-time scoring record once morest the Milwaukee Bucks.

Devin Booker, with 41 points, and Chris Paul, with 8 points and 11 assists, might not prevent the Suns’ surprising loss at the Grizzlies’ home court.

Both Phoenix and Memphis are guaranteed first and second place in the Western Conference in this regular phase, so the Grizzlies took the opportunity to dose their starters.

In addition to star Ja Morant, out due to injury, Memphis was without power forward Jaren Jackson Jr, center Steven Adams, shooting guard Desmond Bane and point guard Tyus Jones.

Still, the Grizzlies knocked out the current NBA runners-up supported by 30 points from Dillon Brooks and 19 from rookie Ziaire Williams.

In another of the games of the day, the Clippers massacred the Milwaukee Bucks 153-119, who also reserved their stars Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday.

With this score, the Clippers surpassed their previous record for scoring in a game, which went back to 152 in a 1998 clash once morest the Toronto Raptors.

The Clippers crossed that mark with a 47-second dunk from veteran Rob Covingto, who had a stratospheric performance of a career-high 43 points and 11 3-pointers.

The young Amir Coffey contributed 32 points to the triumph of the Clippers, who were without their figures Paul George, recently recovered from an elbow problem, and Kawhi Leonard, who has not made his debut this season due to injury.

For the Bucks, who the day before won the Brooklyn Nets in overtime, the young Jordan Nwora was the top scorer with 28 points.

For their part, the San Antonio Spurs beat the Portland Trail Blazers 130-111 and put more pressure on the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Los Angeles team left the tenth place in the West in the hands of the Spurs on Thursday, the last one that gives access to the playoff playoffs (‘play in’).

With only six games left in the regular season, Anthony Davis and LeBron James returned from injuries this Friday to help the Lakers in the crucial game once morest the New Orleans Pelicans, ninth in the conference.
