Philippe Henry, Walloon Minister of Climate, Energy and Mobility, was Alexandre Noppe’s guest on the show “Café sans Filter” this Friday morning. He returned to several news items, notably addressing zero-interest loans, photovoltaics, PFAS and the elections.

This morning, it was announced that 10,000 Walloon citizens could benefit from a 0-rate loan for their housing “to support the insulation of buildings”, recalls Philippe Henry. This measure will “reduce energy consumption without having to advance the money”. These bonuses, although accessible to all, will delight low-income households: “up to 6 times more premium when you have a very low income”.

“The objective is that all households who wish can carry out these renovations without being prevented by a financial nature but that they also have the necessary means, so we have set up local renovation platforms to move towards good professionals,” explains the minister. But, in the face of this success, there was a significant waiting period. The solution : green certificates in 2024which will make it possible to increase production in particular of photovoltaic panels, as well as bonuses during the wait.

Should we invest in photovoltaic panels in Belgium?

The Walloon minister then returned to the PFAS crisis, estimating that we are today in “the post-crisis of a few weeks ago but that we will have to follow this subject in the coming years”. For him, we must take measures at the source to reduce pollution and the emission of PFAS. “There is a real problem of pollution to take into account, that we must review the mode of industrial production, consumption, use of materials. There must be an awareness of all the population of these subjects”, declares Philippe Henry.

We also learned this morning that the cost of extensions of the Liège tram had exceeded 300 million euros. But for the Walloon minister, nothing alarming. “We had to work urgently on these extensions because we were constrained by the deadlines of the European recovery plan from which we have now exited, so we will be able to lower certain prices and bring the market into play,” he explains. For him, we should therefore not abandon this project or move to a less expensive version.

To conclude, Philippe Henry, who was neither at the top of the list nor in second place, reiterates his desire to support the Walloon government. “It’s true that I had long since felt that I preferred to be in concrete action like today.”
