The Swiss national team player Philipp Köhn signed a five-year contract with the French first division club until June 2028. The 25-year-old was recently voted “Best Goalkeeper” of the past Bundesliga season. Ten million euros have been rumored as the transfer fee in the past few days.

“With his extremely strong performances in the last two years, he has attracted the attention of many international clubs, so his move ultimately comes as no surprise,” said Salzburg sporting director Christoph Freund. Köhn, who was born in Germany, played a total of 83 games for the “Bulls”. The Mozart townspeople have already brought in another goalkeeper in the summer with ÖFB national goalie Alexander Schlager. Monaco were on the lookout for a new number one following loanee Alexander Nübel returned to Bayern Munich.

Hütter and sports director Thiago Scuro are new at the helm for the Monegasques. They are expected to take the club back into the top three in Ligue 1 following a disappointing sixth place last season. Köhn went through the German national teams up to the U18 before running in for his mother’s home country. With the Swiss A-Team, he took part in the 2021 European Championships and in the 2022 World Cup, but without an assignment.
