The NFL teams are slowly sorting out their players for the final roster, which can only contain 53 athletes. This results in numerous candidates being eliminated, which only filled up the summer roster to 90 men. However, the final elimination process also often results in prominent victims. The Philadelphia Eagles have now parted ways with CJ Uzomah.

The team had only signed the tight end in April. The 31-year-old is an experienced player in his position, having played seven seasons for the Cincinnati Bengals from 2015 to 2021 and most recently two seasons for the New York Jets. Uzomah had his strongest season in 2021. In his final year with the Bengals, he caught 49 passes for 493 yards and five touchdowns. He then signed a three-year contract with Gang Green for $24 million and was released early in March after a knee injury sustained in Week 13 of the preseason.

In Philadelphia, he signed a one-year contract worth $1.377 million, which has now been terminated early. At least he is allowed to keep the guaranteed amount of $717,500.
