The lords of IPL have to keep their hands on their heads; Salt showed magic in just 18 days
England superstar Phil Salt made a huge jump in the ICC rankings. Salt shocked fans by jumping to the second rank in the ICC T20 batsmen’s list.
The five T20 matches of England’s West Indies tour changed Salt’s fortunes. Despite losing the series 2-0, Salt’s innings stood tall. Salt was also chosen as the star of the series.
The hosts had won the first two matches of the five-match series. Fans thought that West Indies would bring out the same dominance in the T20I series as in the ODI series.
But the game changed in the third T20 at the National Cricket Stadium. In the first two T20Is, Grenada witnessed the firework of Phil Salt, who was crucial to England’s line-up. Salt scored 109 runs off 56 balls directly. Salt hit four fours and nine sixes.
England won the match by seven wickets. Saltine was also chosen as the star of the competition.
Trailing 2-1, Salt made a comeback in the fourth match at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy. Salt scored another century by scoring 119 runs off 57 balls. The star’s innings consisted of seven fours and ten sixes. Salt once again pocketed Cayman’s man of the match award.
Although he failed in the last match, Salt managed to become the top scorer in England.
Salt scored 331 runs in the series at an average of 82.75 and a blistering strike rate of 185.95.
All the IPL teams must be holding their heads as they see Salt’s rise in the ICC rankings. Salt is now making waves by kicking the chest of all the franchises in the IPL who were not interested in bringing him to the team in the star auction.
Salt responded to the IPL teams by scoring a century in the match that reached the crease after the star auction. After this, Salt jumped in the ranking as well.
This is the best ranking in the player’s career. Salt jumped to second place with 802 rating points.
Salt was ranked 90th in the rankings released prior to this series. But in just 18 days, salt rose 88 places to second place.
