Louis Vuitton appoints Pharrell Williams as artistic director of men’s collections

He takes over the creative direction of the fashion house following the sudden death of Virgil Abloh, which occurred in November 2021.

“His creative vision beyond fashion will undoubtedly lead Louis Vuitton to a very exciting new chapter”, said Pietro Beccari, CEO of Louis Vuitton quoted in the press release. His appointment is in line with the legacy of Virgil Abloh, a jack-of-all-trades artist who became a fashion icon, for having skilfully married luxury and streetwear.
An approach shared by Pharrell Williams who, like the designer, died of cancer at the age of 41, a passion for skateboarding, the world of art and music. Accustomed to the front rows of fashion shows and creator of planetary hits (Happy et Get lucky Daft Punk), Pharrell Williams has made numerous fashion collaborations (Moncler, Adidas and… Louis Vuitton). The nearly 50-year-old American had already created a line of jewelry and eyewear for Louis Vuitton in 2004 and 2008.
