Pharmacist society, “requesting the government to lower the supply price of self-testing kits”

[의학신문·일간보사=김민지 기자] The Korean Pharmaceutical Association (Chairman Dae-eop Kim) held the 2nd standing board meeting on the 15th to share the fact that the government requested a measure to reduce the supply price of self-test kits to pharmacies, and discussed issues related to stabilizing the supply and demand of self-test kits for COVID-19.

In his greetings, Chairman Kim Dae-up criticized the government’s Corona 19 self-test kit supply and demand policy as fragmentary and easy, while watching the quarantine situation that made people stand in long lines on the street in the cold winter.

In this regard, Lee Kwang-min, head of the policy planning department, explained the progress and distribution improvement measures related to the supply and demand stabilization measures for COVID-19 self-test kits at pharmacies.

Major distribution improvement measures include △Allow return of self-test kits sold in subdivisions △Limit sales of 5 or less per person at a time △Subdivision sales of large-capacity (20/25 pieces) products △Prohibit online sales △Consumer selling price 6,000 won (tax included) , limited to products sold by subdivision), etc.

The pharmacist society announced a statement urging the market stabilization of self-test kits, and explained that on the 14th, they also requested measures to reduce the supply price of self-test kits to pharmacies.

In particular, he said that he had conveyed to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety the opinion that it would be difficult to accept the drug due to opposition from pharmacies without preferential reduction of the purchase price of pharmacies, which is expensive compared to the price supplied by government agencies.

Next, it was reported that the plenary association and the Ministry of Health and Welfare signed a business agreement for the establishment of a delivery system for home care patients.

As the main contents of the agreement, it was explained that pharmacies are the main body that directly manages the dispensing and delivery of prescriptions to home-treated patients, and that a drug safety management fee (3010 won) was newly established for dispensing for home patients.

In addition, from the 16th, with the abolition of the international designation of in-home care providers, all pharmacies were in charge of dispensing and delivery according to the telephone consultation, and all pharmacies were changed to be able to claim the ‘medication safety management fee’. In addition, information on the principle of receiving by proxy when delivering prescription drugs was also reported.
