When it comes to hygiene, sterilizing floors and uniforms is a basic procedure for companies in any segment, including the pharmaceutical sector. However, cleaning must go beyond this limit, especially in environments that deal with health products.
If the complete and continuous cleaning of the floor and employees’ clothing prevents the circulation of impurities that can contaminate products and people, other environments and equipment also need the same care. However, for each type of item, it is necessary to use a specific cleaning accessory, which will serve each of the surfaces.
In addition, to help with the process, Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) created a guide for cleaning validation in pharmaceutical industries.
The document is not only for pharmaceutical companies to comply with current regulatory determinations of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), but also has the objective of bringing information to suppliers, in the production of equipment for this segment.
Testing the environment
The guide recommends at least three rigorous tests on machinery and equipment. The first is the meticulous cleaning of the surface, following sampling residues of cleaning products or drugs on the surface under analysis. At the end, the measurement of waste levels should be done with suitable equipment.
This type of action involves the collection of samples with a high degree of reliability. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the tests so that they do not contain any visual identification of the presence of residues on the surface of machines or equipment.
Specific equipment
This cleaning validation aims to eliminate any pathogenic organism and occurs with the help of disinfectant solutions, sponges and appropriate materials. The list of materials includes brushes for machine nozzles, bench brushes or even brushes for washing boots in machines, among others.
In Brazil, companies like Weinberger, a specialist in industrial brushes, offer product lines that meet the needs of these sectors, such as the pharmaceutical industry, which increasingly need excellence in the care and maintenance of their environments.
