Scientists at Perm Technological University of Russia’s Urals have prepared a mathematical equation that allows them to produce drugs in space.
A spokesman for the “Priorities 2030” program of the Russian Ministry of Science said that the use of the formula in applied practices will improve the conditions for implanting special protein crystals on space stations.
He pointed out that the protein crystals are currently being grown to prepare drugs used to combat cancer and muscular dystrophy. These crystals grow in special solutions, while the liquid must be at rest inside a closed container. These crystals cannot be grown on Earth due to the effect of gravity.
Thanks to the technology developed by scientists at Perm University, drug production will be possible in future space laboratories or on the International Space Station. According to “Russia Today”.
