Japan’s “Asahi Shimbun” and Nippon Television reported that at around 10:15 a.m. on the 9th, Japan time, staff at the “Oji Chemical Research Institute” located in Itabashi Ward, Tokyo, notified the police that a solvent leaked and caused a fire. The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department pointed out that the chemical research institute was a pharmaceutical factory, and black smoke was emitting from nearby buildings. According to reports, the fire broke out in a residential area regarding 700 meters away from Nishidai Station on the Toei Subway Mita Line. About 100 square meters of the second floor of the pharmaceutical factory was burned down.
