Today, CD Projekt Red announced during a special Night City Wire that Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.0 will go live on September 21, for free, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. He also revealed new cutscenes, gameplay details and music, as well as more regarding Cyberpunk 2077’s upcoming expansion, Phantom Liberty, which releases on September 26. The entire Night City Wire lasted regarding 40 minutes, but lucky for you, we’ve got everything you need to know. on this subject summarized below.

Cinematic Trailer Featuring Edris Elba’s Solomon Reed

Today’s Night City Wire kicked off with a new cinematic trailer for the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 expansion, Phantom Liberty, and it looks stunning. Showcasing the high-fidelity visuals of the rest of the game’s cutscenes, we see Idris Elba’s retired spy Solomon Reed boarding a train from Night City. On it, he talks to Song So Mi (you may recognize her by her alias Songbird), a new Cyberpunk 2077 Netrunner that players’ V will meet during Phantom Liberty.

Reed soon realizes that his leave has been compromised, potentially by Song So Mi, and following a short fight with various guards, he is shot. We then fast forward seven years and see Songbird on a ship in space with the President of the new United States of America, Rosalind Myers. Out of nowhere, a missile crashes into the spaceship as it flies over Night City, and the ship collapses. And that’s where this trailer ends and, presumably, where players’ journey with Phantom Liberty begins.

Elba then talked a little regarding his character, explaining that he is a complicated spy. You may know what he’s capable of, but you don’t know if you can trust him. He also teases that since Phantom Liberty is a spy story, players need to keep an eye on everything that happens because not everything is what it seems. Elba describes Reed as someone who is extremely dedicated to his work and he loves his job.

He also talked a little regarding the new Dogtown district of Phantom Liberty in Night City, describing it as the most dangerous part of the city thanks to the militia and criminals who control it. He also says its size is impressive.

The music of phantom freedom

CD Projekt Red says the team has created new music for Phantom Liberty, including additional radio stations arriving in Night City. Composer Jack Paciorkowski says the music is more “cyberpunk” but with more “spy themes”. Senior composer PT Adamczyk says the music reflects the triangular dynamic between V, Reed and Songbird in Phantom Liberty.

Adamczyk says the original Phantom Liberty score is now available on all streaming services.

Dark Star Radio, Impulse, and Growl FM are three new radio stations coming to the game. Paciorkowski says Dark Star Radio is focused on “moody, dark tracks,” combining music from around the world. It also features two Edris Elba tracks – he produced both tracks and raps on each. According to Adamczyk, Elba also has a DJ set on Impulse Radio consisting of unreleased tracks. Growl FM is a player-created radio station with songs from the community.

CDPR also revealed it has created a documentary on Growl FM, and today’s Night City Wire gave a quick preview of what to expect. The team then shared a teaser with behind-the-scenes footage of musician Dawid Podsiadlo creating the Phantom Liberty theme song. Podsiadlo also composed the excellent song “Let You Down” from Cyberpunk : Edgerunnersan anime you should watch whether you’re a fan of Cyberpunk 2077 or not.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty gameplay and update 2.0

Game Director Gabriel Amatangelo talked regarding the action in the upcoming 2.0 update and Phantom Liberty during today’s Night City Wire. He says you can be a stealth netrunner or someone who just wants to blow everything up before diving into the new Relic skill tree, which ties into the new Phantom Liberty narrative.

Songbird contacts you through the Relic and, to show you that it’s the real deal, erases some of the bad data from the Relic and configures your cyberware to make better use of it. It allows you to both improve your capabilities but also disrupt enemy cyberware. After that, Amatangelo and lead gameplay designer Karlo Matyasik presented three possible versions in the 2.0 update.

He said his favorite version is “Bullet Time Ninja,” which allows players to use air dashes and dashes to get close to enemies without taking damage. He uses a ninja sword to deflect bullets before taking out a low-health enemy to gain health. This version can also jump cars and motorcycles to attack from the air, with a neat slow motion effect, of course. With this version, he says your enemies won’t know what hit them.

Gameplay designer Yuliia Pryimak highlighted the “hack-and-slash netrunner” version. She says hacking in Cyberpunk 2077 is now more powerful than ever, thanks to a new quickhack queue that lets you stack up to four quickhacks on a single enemy. New hacks allow players to overtake vehicles and detonate them remotely.

Lead gameplay designer Filip Downar demonstrated the “Savage Slugger Solo” version, aimed at players who want to hit really hard, whether with a hammer, a shotgun or your arms, which you can use to pick up the enemies and throw them. others. Additionally, you can supercharge your gorilla arms to send enemies flying.

This section of Night City Wire ended with a quick look at the Maxtech security forces that players will encounter in Cyberpunk 2077 following Update 2.0 goes live next week. And this look at Maxtech closed the showcase.
