PlayStation 4 remains the most popular console in Brazil, points out PGB 2023
Ranking of the 10th Game Brazil Survey (PGB) shows Sony’s video game in possession of 36.3% of Brazilian gamers and growth of current generation platforms
São Paulo, SP – August 24, 2023 — The Pesquisa Game Brasil (PGB), consolidated annual survey on the consumption of electronic games in the country, reveals today that Sony’s PlayStation 4 remains at the top among the most popular consoles in the world Brazilian gamer audience. According to the study, 36.3% of players in the country have this platform, representing a growth of 2.2 percentage points compared to the previous edition of the survey.
The second position in the ranking also did not change in relation to PGB 2022, with Microsoft’s Xbox 360 in possession of 25.1% of Brazilian gamers – growth of 0.8 percentage points. The third most popular video game is new on the table: PlayStation 5, owned by 18% of the gamer public in Brazil.
Sony’s current generation console registers an increase of 3.2 percentage points, enough to overcome the position previously occupied by the PlayStation 2, now in possession of 15.8% of gamers – a drop of 2.2 percentage points compared to the last year.
In relation to Microsoft’s current generation consoles, the Xbox Series S and X appear further down the table, holding 7.1% and 6.7% of the player audience in Brazil, respectively — the data represent, in order, growth of 1.4 and 1.5 percentage points.
Developed by SX Group and Go Gamers in partnership with Blend New Research and ESPM, PGB 2023 interviewed 14,825 people in Brazil, in 26 states and the Federal District, during the month of January this year.
