Counter-expertise confirmed PFAS pollution, which we call “eternal pollutants”, in the distribution water in Nandrin, Modave and Tinlot, by industrial products, Nandrin mayor Michel Lemmens announced to the local press. . IDEN, the Intercommunal Water Company of Nandrin, Tinlot and Modave, is currently trying to connect its network to that of the Compagnie Intercommunale Liégeoise des Eaux (CILE) to supply the population with blue gold. The affected areas are currently supplied with water by tanker trucks.
Traces of PFOA, found in Teflon, and PFOS, used for waterproofing products, were found in the water supplying six villages.
Since the announcement more than a week ago of the potential presence of these pollutants in tap water, the network has been emptied and a temporary solution has been put in place to supply the population. Trucks bring clean water to the Scry water tower to supply the villages, but it costs nearly 10,000 euros per day.
Work is thus underway on the Ramelot side to connect the IDEN network to that of the CILE. Once this work is completed, clean water can be transported through the pipes without having to go through trucks.
