West Virginia’s Peyton Hall handed #3 Izzak Olejnik his first loss of the season Sunday when he defeated him 5-1. Olejnik was 14-0 (15-0 if you include his win over #6 DJ Hamiti at the NWCA All-Star Classic) coming into this match. Hall, an All-American in 2022 and currently ranked #11, is now 19-3 on the year with the win.
Hall accumulated his points with a first-period head gear grab point, a second-period single-leg takedown, and an escape in the third period. The closest Olejnik came to scoring a takedown was off a slide by with 18 seconds remaining in the match, but Hall fended it off with a whizzer.
