Peugeot 508 2023 facelift launched with a more aggressive design

It has been 5 years since Peugeot introduced the second generation D-class sedan 508.

Although many sedans have been discontinued due to the strong development of the SUV/crossover line, the Peugeot 508 D-segment sedan is still popular in many markets around the world.

Accordingly, Peugeot has just launched the upgraded midsize car 508 2023. Vehicles are available in sedan and station wagon variants (abbreviated as SW). The upgraded Peugeot 508 has both exterior and interior changes, adding new features and amenities, a downsized turbocharged engine and an additional electrification option.

With a more aggressive appearance, the Peugeot 508 2023 owns the brand’s familiar frameless grille combined with prominent fang-shaped LED daytime running lights. Even the front bumper has been redesigned. Last but not least is the new Peugeot logo located in the center of the grille.

Whether it is a sedan or wagon version, the rear of the 508 is also refreshed to look as sporty as the front. The LED taillight cluster still has the same swipe design as its predecessor, but has been reshaped. Meanwhile, the black painted center cover no longer has the Peugeot logo, but instead has the brand name.

The cabin space of Peugeot 508 2023 is also refreshed. The vehicle’s 10-inch touchscreen infotainment display now supports over-the-air updates, extensive app customization, and scrollable menus. The 12-inch digital display cluster has also been upgraded and displays intelligent driving assistance as well as navigation for more convenience for the driver.

The Peugeot 508 facelift has a redesigned center console. The characteristic number selector is no longer available but has been replaced by a toggle switch, giving it a cleaner feel.

Under the hood, Peugeot 508 The new comes with a long list of engine choices, from a modest 3-cylinder turbocharger to a turbocharged hybrid.

The first is a 1.2L turbocharged I3 engine that produces 130 horsepower. There is also a 1.5L turbo-diesel I4 engine that also produces 130 horsepower. In addition, there is also the option of a 1.6L turbocharged I4 engine with a capacity of 218 horsepower. All petrol and diesel engine options are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Peugeot Sport Engineered version.

Next is the plug-in hybrid powertrain (PHEV) consisting of a 1.2-liter turbocharged engine combined with a 110-horsepower electric motor for a total output of regarding 180 hp or 225 hp depending on the version.

Acting as the most powerful variant – PSE (Peugeot Sport Engineered) Hybrid4 includes a 1.6L I4 engine combined with 2 electric motors – for 110 hp and 113 hp respectively. This allows the 508 PSE to generate a total of 360 horsepower, on par with sports sedans.

The new Peugeot 508 2023 is expected to arrive in the European market first and launch in other global markets soon. With the facelifted 508 getting a new look, we wouldn’t be surprised if the all-new 3008 or 5008 would have the same overall design and style as Peugeot’s D-class sedan.
