This August 16, the president had scheduled the inauguration of three of his ministers: Néstor Osuna (Justice), Mery Gutiérrez (TIC), Arturo Lula (Science). After this, he had to travel to the José María Córdova military school where around 200 people were waiting for him, there he would pay homage to the new military leadership.
The five new commanders of the military leadership remained waiting. The official information delivered around 5:00 in the followingnoon – time of the event – indicated that the head of state “He keeps attending urgent private government meetings.”

The new leadership – which has not taken office – is headed by the commander of the Armed Forces, Major General Helder Fernán Giraldo. There is also the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Vice Admiral José Joaquín Amézquita; in the Army, Major General Luis Mauricio Ospina will remain as commander; Vice Admiral Francisco Hernando Cubides will arrive in the Navy; and in the Police, General Henry Armando Sanabria remained as head.
