In a press release issued Monday, in response to allegations of pollution concerning one of its service stations located at PK 13, on National Road 1, the General Management of PetroGabon rejected all these accusations. The company also denounces an extortion campaign, saying the accusations against it are unfounded.

In a letter addressed to the General Directorate of Studies and Laboratories (DGEL), under the Ministry of Oil, PetroGabon said “contest the validity of the report incriminating him, arguing that the pollution of the water table could be due to other factors”lit.

The company is therefore asking for clarification on the origin of this pollution, emphasizing that the water table could be contaminated since 2022, but without a direct link to its activities. PetroGabon insists on its responsibility in monitoring fuel stocks and affirms that the service station in question was managed in accordance with current standards.

The press release highlights that PetroGabon is the leading player in the Gabonese petroleum product distribution market, holding 35% of the market share and is a leader in the construction and management of service stations. Since its opening in 2005, the company claims to have built 30 service stations, strictly respecting current safety and environmental regulations, we learn.

However, concerns were raised by the relevant services of the General Directorate of Studies and Laboratories, which reported pollution linked to the PetroGabon service station at PK13, opening in 2022. This situation led to a request for financial compensation amounting to 35 million CFA Francs.

However, “PetroGabon reaffirms its commitment to environmental security and its willingness to work with the authorities to clarify the situation.
